Thurs 30 Sep - premature PNP, bells, birds, varnishing, ragodin, Gilberto Gil
Shortly after midnight, Rita pinched-and-punched me, only to then be told that it was the last day of September and not the first day of October (Whoops!). When morning came, it was to the sound of church bells and birds. I took advantage of the sunny weather to do the varnishing of the wheelhouse, and also to block gaps around the wheelhouse windows with foam tape.
In the afternoon, the port was full of ducks, geese, water-hens and swans, and also a ragodin who feasted on some nearby weed.
In the evening, we went up to the Opera House to meet Sarah and Albon and go to a concert by Gilberto Gil. While I had heard of him, and thought I would know some of his songs, I recognised none of them, unlike Rita who said they took her back to her younger years. Clearly, by the audience reaction, he was very well known to a French population. The thing that made the greatest impression on me was being in an auditorium with lots of people for the first time in 18 months. While everyone was wearing masks, and had to show their vaccination QR code on entry, it all felt a bit strange!
