Afterword

It seemed at the time that we had done a lot of barging while we were in France. In retrospect, however, it is obvious that we have really only just scratched the surface, as shown on the map below where our 2011 trip is shown in green.

As can be seen, we have only just done a tiny fraction of the canal system in the south-west corner of France. The rest of the French canals await us in the coming years.

And then Belgium, and then The Netherlands, and then Germany, and then ....................
