Progress - Ensuite 2

March 2014

After plumber Thierry Giraud and his helper stripped out Ensuite 2 in February, March was a time for removing the floorboards and the packed earth insulation, and then working out (and marking on the walls) where all the new fittings would go. The light shining through the wall under the word "toilette" comes from the Lightwell onto which Ensuites 1 and 2 back.

Then like every other room in March, it was time for the suspended ceiling hangers to be installed.

April 2014

All the new flooring was laid in Ensuite 2. The toilet cistern framework was also attached to the wall, ready for the installation of the toilet cistern.

May 2014

The toilet cistern has now been attached to the framework. The wooden floors in the ensuites will all be sanded and sealed, giving a warm appearance to all the ensuites. The wastewater pipes from the new laundry/shower room on the 2nd floor will run down the external wall of Ensuite 2, behind the doubled-wall.

July 2014

The plasterwork in Ensuite 2 has now been completed, with the doubled wall on the eastern wall hiding all the waste water pipes from the laundry above.

August 2014

Ensuite 2 is now essentially finished. Because it faces out onto Rue Gambetta and the houses across the road, the new double-glazed windows have used frosted glass for privacy in this room.
